Fabrizio Meloni is a professional journalist and currently heads the Communication and External Relations Department at the University Hospital of Cagliari. An expert in public and health communication, he wrote the book ‘Comunicare la Salute’ (Communicating Health), published by Carocci editore, together with Professor Elisabetta Gola, philosopher of language and lecturer in the Communication Sciences degree course at the University of Cagliari, and Riccardo Porcu, former director of the Region's Institutional Communication Service. He is also national coordinator of the PA social healthcare round table.

Together with Elisabetta Gola and Professor Andrea Volterrani (from the University of Tor Vergata), he is co-chair of Medcom 2020+1, the world conference on communication, and is the author and co-author of several research papers on public and health communication. In particular, his field of study focuses on aspects related to institutional communication, digital communities and social networks, with the aim of analysing public institutions in their mediated construction of social reality.

He teaches on the Master's degree course in Social Communication at the University of Tor Vergata in Rome and the Master's degree course in Digital Communication P.A. at Lumsa. He has also been a reporter, political commentator and editor-in-chief of several newspapers (L'Unione Sarda and the newspapers of the Epolis Group).
