Marco Siddi is Associate Professor and formerly (2021-2023)  "Rita Levi Montalcini" Assistant Professor in Political Science at the Department of Political and Social Science, University of Cagliari. He is also Adjunct Professor at the University of Helsinki and at the University of Tampere and Senior Research Fellow at the Finnish Institute of International Affairs. He is Board Member of the Trans European Policy Studies Association and co-Principal Investigator of the project 2IMatch - "Infrastructure/institutions match for resilient and just green electrification", funded by the Strategic Research Council of the Academy of Finland. He is also a member of the Società Italiana di Scienza Politica (SISP) and coordinator of the Standing Group Russia and Post-Soviet Space at SISP. He is also a member of the Editorial Board of the journal Politics and Governance. 

He is a member of the scientific committee of the GramsciLab at the University of Cagliari, as well as of the academic committee of the PhD in Research and Social Innovation at the Department of Political and Social Science of the University of Cagliari. He is also a member of the advisory committee of the Master's Degree in East European and Eurasian Studies at the University of Bologna.

At the University of Cagliari, he teaches the course International Relations in the MA degree in International Relations, and Public Policy Analysis/Politics of the European Union in the MA degree in Science of Public Administration. He is a research team member of the national project INSULANDER (INvestigating the Strategic role of commUnication for resiLient islAnds copiNg DisastErs Risk management, 2023-2026), coordinated by prof. Alessandro Lovari, and of the project The Rule of Law Crisis and Democratic Backsliding in the EU, funded by the Fondazione di Sardegna (2022-2025) and coordinated by prof. Luca Pantaleo.

His research focuses on relations between the European Union and Russia, EU energy and climate policy, as well as identity and memory politics in Europe. He has published in some of the most renowned peer-reviewed journals in his research field, including the Journal of European Public Policy, Geopolitics, Europe-Asia Studies, Politics and International Politics (see also his Google Scholar page).

Before being awarded his Montalcini Fellowship in Italy (2021-2023), he was Senior Research Fellow at the Finnish Institute of International Affairs in Helsinki (2015-2021), DAAD Fellow at the Institut für Europäische Politik in Berlin (2014) and Early Stage Researcher at the Universities of Edinburgh and Cologne (2010-2013) within the programme Marie Sklodowska-Curie ITN financed by the European Commission. He has taught at the Universities of Helsinki, Tampere, Edinburgh and Cologne.

Marco received a PhD in Political Science from the University of Edinburgh, a Master of Advanced International Studies from the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna and a Bachelor of Arts in Modern History and Modern Languages from the University of Oxford.

He participates in several research groups at the European Consortium of Political Research and he is a member of the Younger Generation Leaders Network on Euro-Atlantic Security.
