Pasquale Buonadonna was born in Naples on July 15th 1963. Since December 2002 he holds a position as Researcher on permanent contract at the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Cagliari in the scientific disciplinary field ING-IND16: Processing Technologies and Systems. From 2000 to 2002 he was Research Fellow for collaboration in research activities entitled "Procedures and methods of process and product control" at the University of Sannio, Benevento. From 1998 to 2000 he obtained his Post-doctoral Fellowship, Faculty of Engineering, 8th competition. The research activity carried out during the Post-Doctoral Fellowship focused on the development of non-destructive evaluation and control techniques, with particular reference to plastic matrix composite materials for advanced applications. From 1995 to 1998 he obtained a Scholarship at the Research Unit INFM of Naples (National Institute for the Physics of Matter) entitled "Non-destructive analysis with eddy currents using superconducting devices". From 1992 to 1995 he received his PhD in Technology of Materials and Industrial Plants 8th cycle, Department of Engineering of Materials and Production, University of Naples "Federico II", with the thesis entitled "Sensory Monitoring of Material Cutting Processes". He graduated in Electronic Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, University of Naples Federico II in April 1992, with thesis in General Technology of Materials, supervisor Prof. R. Teti, entitled: "Sensory techniques for monitoring tool wear in turning".
The main scientific research topics performed are:
Influence of tool wear on damage of composite laminates. Color fixation on textile fibers using the DoE methodology for the analysis of experimental data. Friction Stir Welding (FSW) is an innovative solid state welding method without filler material. Sensory monitoring of metal working processes.
