Riccardo Fercia was born in Cagliari on January 14, 1972.
He received his classical high school diploma from the Liceo Classico 'Dettori' in Cagliari with highest honors in 1990.
He graduated from the Piano School at the 'G.P. da Palestrina' Conservatory of Cagliari with a grade of eight/10 performing works by Beethoven (Sonata op. 57), Chopin (Sonata op. 35), Brahms (Rhapsody op. 119) and Debussy (Préludes, I, nn. IV and VIII).
He received his Bachelor of Arts degree on June 22, 1994 with highest honors, discussing a thesis on Greek literature with Prof. Vittorio Citti. He then carried out teaching activities, also as a supplement to the training and educational path, in literary subjects in secondary school, while cultivating scientific research on Greek literature.
He performed his military service in the Army.
On May 15, 1998, he was licensed to practice as a labor consultant.
He then also graduated in Law with highest honors on Dec. 18, 1998, discussing a thesis on problems of Roman private law with Prof. Francesco Sitzia, and was subsequently appointed as a subject tutor.
On September 4, 2000, he took up his position at the Faculty of Law of the University of Cagliari as the holder of a research grant in the project “‘Ius commune’. Romanistic origins,” scientific head Prof. Francesco Sitzia. He is licensed to practice as a lawyer (cashier since February 19, 2016).
On March 1, 2006, he took office as a researcher at the Faculty of Law of the University of Cagliari, SSD IUS/18 - “Roman Law and Rights of Antiquity,” with entrustment of courses from the following academic year as an aggregate professor ex art. 1, paragraph 11, of l. November 4, 2005, no. 230.
He is the winner of the competition for 380 judicial auditor positions announced by Ministerial Decree 28.02.2004. Appointed ordinary magistrate (MOT) by ministerial decree Dec. 6, 2007 and assigned to the Court of Cagliari for the prescribed internship, however, he did not take possession (act equated ex lege to voluntary resignation) to retain the office of researcher.
He was, therefore, confirmed in the role of university researcher with legal effect from March 1, 2009.
Earned eligibility for the positions of associate professor, SSD IUS/18 - “Roman Law and Rights of Antiquity,” at the University of Teramo on December 9, 2010.
Called by the Faculty of Law of the University of Cagliari by resolution of January 28, 2011, on the following March 29 he took office as associate professor.
With legal effect from March 29, 2014, he was, therefore, confirmed in the role of associate professor at the Department of Law, University of Cagliari.
He obtained the National Scientific Habilitation to the functions of full professor of Roman Law and Rights of Antiquity, concurrency sector 12/H1, scientific-disciplinary sector IUS/18, in the ASN-2012 round and was called to the current functions of full professor at the proposal of the Law Department Council with legal effect from February 2, 2015.
He also obtained the National Scientific Habilitation to the positions of full professor of Private Law, competitive sector 12/A1, scientific-disciplinary field IUS/01, in the ASN-2016 round.
He has been a member of the commissions for the bar examinations in the sessions called for the years 2010 and 2011, as well as, as a academic member appointed by the Department of afferent, of the Judicial Council at the Court of Appeal of Cagliari both for the 2012-2016 consiliatura, by virtue of appointment of the C.U.N. occurred in the meeting of January 29, 2013, and for the current consiliatura 2020-2024. Finally, he is a full member of the Electoral Guarantee Board at the Court of Appeal of Cagliari for the four-year period 2024-2027.
He is a member of AIDR, Italian Association of Roman Law, SISDiC, Italian Society of Civil Law Scholars, and SIAA, Italian Society of Administrative Lawyers.
Reviewer VQR 2004-2010, 2011-2014 and 2015-2019, member of the ASN-2021/2023 committee for the concursive sector 12/H1-Roman Law and Rights of Antiquity, participant in the Board of Lecturers of the PhD program in “Contract Law” (cycles XXV-XXVIII), as well as, subsequently, in “Legal Sciences” (cycles XXIX-XL), is currently the holder of the teachings of “Institutions of Roman Law” (course 3) and “Fundamentals of European Law” - which he has held without interruption since the 2006/2007 academic year - activated in the CLM in Law of the Faculty of Economic, Legal and Political Sciences of the University of Cagliari.
