Prof. Stefano Angioni, M.D. and Ph.D., was born  in Quartu Sant’Elena (Italy) and received his medical degree magna cum laude at the University of Cagliari in 1989. He qualified with honours in Gynaecology and Obstetrics at the University of Modena in 1993 and in Endocrinology and Metabolic Disorders at the University of Cagliari in 2006. In 2012 he received his Ph.D. in Human and Animal Reproduction with honours at the University of Bari.
He is currently Full Professor of Gynaecology and Obstetrics of the Faculty of Medicine, Head of Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department, Director of Specialization School of Gynaecology and Obstetrics and past  President of the University Midwifery School of the University of Cagliari. 
He has been member of the General Board of the European Society for Gynaecological Endoscopy (ESGE) and of the Executive Board of the Società Italiana di Endoscopia Ginecologica (SEGi) as Scientific Chairman. He is currently a member of Board of Directors of the European Society of Gynaecology (ESG) and member of the Executive Board of the Associazione Italiana di Ginecologia Endocrinologica (AIGE), of the Società Italiana della Contraccezione (SIC) and of the Società Italiana della Riproduzione (SIDR).  
Prof. Angioni’s research interests cover chronic pelvic pain, medical and surgical treatment of endometriosis, polycystic ovary syndrome, infertility and minimally invasive surgery in Gynaecology.  He has contributed in 221 PubMed and Scopus indexed publications in peer reviewed journals and has a Hirsh Index of 38. He has been an invited speaker in more than 350  National and International scientific congresses.
Prof. Angioni is Associate Editor of Gynecological Endocrinology” and even member of the Editorial Board of “Il Ginecologo”, “Case Reports in Surgery”, “Minerva Obstetrics and Gynecology”, “Current Drug Therapy”, “Open Medicine Journal”, “European Gynecology and Obstetrics”, “Gynecological and Reproductive Endocrinology and Metabolism”and “Biomedicines”. Before becoming Editor in Chief of “Gynaecological Surgery” he has been involved in the journal as member of editorial board and Associate Editor.
He received the Award of Excellency in Gynaecology and Obstetrics in 2006 from the European Board & College of Obstetrics and Gynecology (EBCOG) in Luxembourg and the  Acknowledgment of its innovative contribution in minimally invasive gynecological surgery at the University of San Petersburg (Russia) in 2012 and by the Romanian Society of Endoscopic Surgery in Timisoara (Romania) in 2014.
