EDUCATION
1988 – Master in Soil Science (2 years and final grade ‘greatest distinction’) at the Ghent State University (Belgium) with a thesis in pedology.
1984 – Degree ‘cum laude’ in Geological Sciences at the University of Cagliari with a thesis in soil science.

Tutor of several PhD theses (University of Cagliari), was a member of the Board of Lecturers of the PhD course in ‘Valorisation and management of agro-forestry resources’ at the University of Naples ‘Federico II’ (2001-2006), member of the Board of Lecturers of the PhD course in ‘Soil defence and conservation, environmental vulnerability and hydrogeological protection’ of the University of Cagliari (2001-2013), member of the Board of Lecturers of the Doctoral School in Engineering and Sciences for the Environment and Territory of the University of Cagliari (2013-2016). Since 2016 he is a member of the Board of Lecturers of the PhD School in Earth and Environmental Sciences and Technologies of the University of Cagliari.
SCIENTIFIC ACTIVITY
Author of about 120 scientific papers and about 60 abstracts published in proceedings of national and international congresses (scientific production can be viewed by clicking on Research).
The scientific experience gained in recent years concerns various aspects of pedology, and in particular
- genesis, survey and mapping of soils;
- relationships between forms and soils on Quaternary continental deposits;
- soil and land evaluation for different uses;
- soil degradation;
- humus forms.
