Margherita Sabrina Perra (PhD in Sociology and Social Research, University of Trento) is Associate Professor of Sociology of Economic and Labour Processes (GSPS-08/A) at the Department of Political and Social Sciences, where she teaches sociology of organisation and sociology of public administration. In recent years, she has taught sociology and methodology of social research, sociology of the comparative system of industrial relations on the II level Masters in Industrial Relations at the University of Cagliari; Governance and innovation of the PA on the II level Masters in Multilevel Governance at the University of Cagliari.

She has carried out research at the University of Essex, the Deutsches Institut fur Wirtschaftforscung (DIW) – Berlin and at Brown University (RI-USA) where she obtained a post-doctoral and research scholarship as part of the international project Explaining Low Fertility in Italy (ELFI) - Institute of Child Health and Human Development (ROI HDO48715) and the National Science Foundation (BCS 0418443) - Brown University - Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research (Rostock) - Fondazione Cattaneo (Bologna).

Her main interests are developed from a multidisciplinary perspective, particularly in the fields of economics, history and demographics. In her research, she combines quantitative and qualitative methods and original and secondary data sets. The main topics of her research are capitalism and the division of social labour in European countries; inequalities and capitalism; the processes of social regulation and the role of the State from a critical perspective, especially in the processes of industrialisation; the system of industrial relations in European countries; labour exploitation and immigration; family and the status of women.

She is a member of the teaching staff of the ‘Economic and Social Sciences’ doctorate programme at the University of Teramo.

She is co-editor of the journal Notebooks: the journal of studies of power and is a member of the editorial board of national and international journals.
