Federica Pes was born in Iglesias on June 26, 1991. She graduated in Mathematics in 2015 and received her Master's degree in Mathematics in 2018 from the University of Cagliari. In 2022, she received her PhD in Mathematics and Computer Science under the supervision of Professor Giuseppe Rodriguez with a thesis entitled "On the computation of the minimal-norm solution of linear and nonlinear problems."
From October 1, 2021, to December 31, 2021, she was a research fellow at the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of Cagliari. From October 1, 2022, to March 31, 2024, she was a research fellow at the Department of Chemistry and Industrial Chemistry at the University of Pisa. Since April 1, 2024, she has been a research fellow at the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of Cagliari. She has participated in several national and international conferences, including as an invited speaker. She was the coordinator of a research project INdAM/GNCS 2025.
Her research interests include the following topics: inverse problems and regularization of linear and nonlinear ill-conditioned problems, numerical solution of systems of Fredholm integral equations of the first kind, applications to geophysical models, photometric stereo, and the development of scientific software.
