Marco Moro is an architect and research fellow in Architectural and Urban Design.

Since 2017, he has been researching and teaching at the School of Architecture of Cagliari where he inaugurates a series of design seminars entitled Design with Intent. Esercizi di progettazione critica both for Bachelor and Master students. His research explores campus design and university architecture as a paradigm of transnational exchanges in the postwar era, and the mutual influence between form and pedagogy. In 2022, he is appointed Post-Doc Visiting Fellow at Harvard University to develop a research project entitled “The Architect as Educator” (supervised by Prof. Patricio del Real). In 2024, he received the Scott Opler Emerging Scholar Fellowship to present the results of his research at the SAH International Conference in New Mexico. Currently, he teaches Elementi di Composizione Architettonica and co-teaches the 3rd-year Architectural Design Studio. His current appointment as a Research Fellow (RTDA) is related to the ETIC project - Einstein Telescope Infrastructure Consortium (PNRR 2022) - focused on the development of design strategies to support the Italian candidacy for the establishment of the largest and most innovative scientific infrastructure in Sardinia.

After the Master’s Degree in Architecture (Cagliari), he earned an MSc (with distinction) in Urban Strategies at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna, in collaboration with the University of Auckland (New Zealand), where he spent a semester as a Visiting Scholar in 2015. The following year, he got a professional appointment from DICAAR to work as an architect on the new Masterplan of Campus Sant’Ignazio (Faculty of Economics, Law and Political Sciences of the University of Cagliari). In the same period, he taught Architectural Design Studios and Theory of Architectural and Urban Design. In 2017, he began his PhD research project developed in Italy, South America (Chile and Argentina), and the UK. At the same time, he worked as a Visiting Lecturer in Architectural Design at Anglia Ruskin University (London) and led the Urban Design Studio for Master’s students as a Visiting Professor at the Universidad Católica del Norte (Chile), whose results were presented on the occasion of the Venice Architecture Biennale (2018). Since 2019, he has been collaborating with the Architectural Association of London (AA Visiting School Asinara Casting Castaways) and was awarded Future Architecture Fellow (European Union) for the project Institutes of Care: Spaces of (de)institutionalized collectivity.

In line with his research interests, he published the volume UNIVERSOSUD. Immagini, Figure e Archetipi di campus universitari in Cile e Argentina 1947–1967 (LetteraVentidue, 2025) and curated the collection of writings by the architects Pezo von Ellrichshausen published under the title FORM OF KNOWLEDGE / FORMA DEL SAPERE (Thymos Books, 2025). He regularly participates as a speaker at international conferences and congresses (ProArch, SAH, AHRA, AIHU), delivers invited lectures (ETH, ETSAM, UFRJ), and curated the Symposium Weaving. Antipodal Dialogues between Italy and New Zealand, hosted at the Venice Architecture Biennale. His contributions appear in leading academic journals such as Journal of Architectural Education, Architectural Theory Review, Drawing Matter, FAMagazine, and U+D. For the journal Stoà, he edited the issue titled “Brief / Syllabus” (no. 14, 2025).

After obtaining the professional qualification (2014), he works as an architect both independently and in collaboration with various architecture firms, obtaining prizes and awards in national and international competitions, especially in the field of educational building projects.
