Marco Zucca is an Assistant Professor (RTDa) in Structural Engineering (SSD ICAR/09) at the University of Cagliari, Department of Civil, Environmental and Architectural Engineering. In 2024 he obtained the Italian National Scientific Qualification (ASN) for Associate Professor in Structural Engineering (08/B3).

He received his PhD in Architecture, Built Environment and Construction Engineering from Politecnico di Milano in 2019 and previously worked as a research fellow at Politecnico di Milano (2015–2022) and at the University of Cagliari (2022–2023).

His research focuses on structural assessment of existing bridges and infrastructure, corrosion effects in reinforced concrete structures, seismic vulnerability of structures and infrastructures, behaviour of underground structures, and seismic retrofitting of historic constructions. He has also been involved in the structural rehabilitation of heritage buildings damaged by earthquakes, including the Basilica of Santa Maria di Collemaggio in L’Aquila.

He teaches Structural Engineering at the University of Cagliari and contributes to advanced courses on numerical modelling and bridge engineering within the Master’s programme in seismic design at Politecnico di Milano.

He currently serves as Associate Editor of the ASCE Practice Periodical on Structural Design and Construction and is a member of the editorial boards of several international journals.
