Prof Filippo Boriani is currently Associate Professor of Plastic Surgery at the University of Cagliari and practices as a plastic surgeon at the Complex Structure of Plastic Surgery and Microsurgery of the AOU of Cagliari. Since 02/12/2024 he has been on leave from the University of Cagliari and works as a Consultant Orthoplastic Surgeon at the Department of Plastic Surgery, Southmead Hospital, North Bristol NHS Trust, Bristol, United Kingdom.

Filippo Boriani graduated in Medicine in Bologna in 2002 in record time, with honors, and specialized with honors in 2009 at the University of Turin, in Plastic Reconstructive Surgery.

After a period of work as a plastic surgeon at the National Health System (NHS) of the United Kingdom, he returned to Bologna where he completed a PhD in Orthoplastic and Hand Surgery, receiving in 2013 an international award (ICORS) for the quality of research published in an important international journal.

Since 2019 he has been a doctor of the NHS, first as owner of the breast reconstructive surgery activity at the Sanremo Hospital and then in 2020 at the Plastic Reconstructive and Hand Surgery of the Torrette Regional Hospital in Ancona. Since 2021 Filippo Boriani has been called as a university plastic surgeon (first RTD-B and then Associate Professor) at the Cagliari Polyclinic, where he deals with plastic surgery and microsurgery, particularly in the field of breast reconstruction after cancer, hand surgery and skin oncology.

His curriculum includes 8 awards, over 80 publications, over 100 participations in master classes and congresses as a lecturer, speaker, moderator or participant. Several times he has been invited to report on topics such as hand surgery, post-traumatic reconstructive surgery and cosmetic surgery of face and body reshaping. He has performed numerous CTUs and CTPs in the field of health liability.

Prof. Boriani is a scientific reviewer for international journals of plastic surgery. He has taught Plastic and Hand Surgery at various courses at the University of Bologna.

He has received two important awards, training quality guarantee and technical preparation from the European Training Certification Body (U.E.M.S.):

European Diploma in Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery (Marseille, 2011).

European Diploma in Hand Surgery (Brescia, 2015).

He also obtained the national scientific qualification of II (2018) and I band (2020).
