PhD in Anthropologie Sociale et Ethnologie, awarded in 2009 at the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales (EHESS) in Paris.
Research interests: contemporary Sufism and conversions to Islam in Europe; the dissemination, reception and application of Gramscian thought in MENA countries (in particular Egypt and Tunisia); the Italian community in Egypt (19th-20th centuries) and the role of the ‘radical’ press in relation to European colonialism and anti-colonialism.
