Dipartimento di Ingegneria elettrica ed elettronica

Gianluca Fadda is currently involved as Assistant Professor (Rtd-A - ING-INF/03) at the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering. His position is funded by the European Union under the Horizon Europe program (ref. Grant Agreement n.101135637), research project entitled “Hybrid Extended reAliTy” (HEAT).

At the University of Cagliari, he received in 2010 the MSc in Electronic Engineering and in 2017 the PhD in Industrial Engineering.

At the same institution, from 2018 to 2020 he was involved as research fellow (art.22, L.240/2010 type B - SSD: ING-INF/03) within the top-down cluster “VIRTUALENERGY,” on the project entitled “Cloud IoT models and algorithms for Virtual Power Plant (VPP) management,” under the supervision of Prof. Maurizio Murroni.

In 2016 he carried out research activities on topics related to the development of advanced techniques for clustering and data reconciliation within the GlobusDoc program at the Process System Engineering Lab, Louisiana State University (U.S.A.) under the supervision of Prof. José Romagnoli.

From 2014 to 2015 he carried out research activities aimed at the development of algorithms integrating Model-Based and Data-Driven methodologies for fault diagnosis on dynamic systems, as part of the European project “RObust Decentralized Estimation fOr large-scale systems” (RODEO), under the supervision of Prof.Elio Usai and in collaboration with the Signals and Systems Department - School of Electrical Engineering - of the University of Belgrade.

From 2008 to 2010 he carried out research and technology transfer activities at the Ambient Intelligence Laboratory (AmiLAB), coordinated by Prof.Fabio Roli within the ICT Cluster District of Sardegna Ricerche, dealing with development and prototyping of models and algorithms for biometric recognition under the supervision of Prof.Gian Luca Marcialis, in collaboration with several universities (Udine and Padua) and university spin-offs (eVS embedded Vision System s.r.l.).

In 2011 he continued his research and technology transfer activities inherent to the prototyping of biometric recognition systems at the Center for Research, Development and Advanced Studies in Sardinia (CRS4).

In 2017, he launched the startup Neula Soc. Coop, focused on the development of technology solutions and consulting services for the monitoring of photovoltaic systems, at which he was in charge as technical manager (CTO) until 2021.

From 2011 to 2021, he carried out research and development activities at different companies operating in plant engineering, industrial automation and renewable energy.

From 2022 to 2024, he was IT Executive Instructor (Cat.D) at the Municipality of Oristano.
