Mauro Carta is a mechanical engineer with a Ph.D. in industrial engineering from the University of Cagliari. He has worked as a research fellow at the Department of Mechanical, Chemical, and Materials Engineering and, since December 2024, has been an RTT researcher at the same department.

He has gained research experience in the field of manufacturing technologies and materials, focusing on the following areas of interest:

  • Sustainable recycling of light alloy chips through Friction Stir Extrusion and Direct Hot Rolling (part of solid-state consolidation processes).
  • Machining of polymeric and composite materials produced via 3D printing.
  • Plastic deformation processes such as Friction Stir Processing and Accumulative Roll Bonding for grain refinement and solid-state welding of metallic materials.
  • Environmental impact and sustainability analysis of technological processes through Life Cycle Assessment (LCA).

He has collaborated with international companies and research centers, spending six months conducting research at Helmholtz-Zentrum Hereon in Germany (Geesthacht) and participating in various national research projects.

His research has been presented at scientific conferences and published in international peer-reviewed journals.

He has been a member of the italian sector's scientific association since 2022.
