Professor Silvia Izzo is Associate Professor of Civil Procedure Law at the University of Cagliari, within the academic field IUS/15. She earned her PhD in Domestic and International Arbitration Law from Luiss G. Carli University in Rome in 2005, with a dissertation titled "Arbitration and Jurisdiction." In 2001, she graduated in Law, also from Luiss, with top honors (110/110 cum laude), presenting a thesis in Commercial Law. Her international education includes a period as a Visiting Scholar at Ludwig Maximilians Universität München and participation in the Salzburg Law School on International Justice.

Her academic career began with a permanent research position in Civil Procedure Law at the University of Campania Luigi Vanvitelli from the academic year 2008/2009 to 2016/2017. Since 2017/2018, she has been an Associate Professor at the University of Cagliari, where she teaches Civil Procedure Law, Judicial System and Judicial Cooperation. She also holds institutional roles, including coordinator for Civil Procedure Law in the School of Specialization for Legal Professions and member of the Department's Quality Assurance Committee with responsibility for research.

Alongside her academic activity, from 2009 to 2018 she was a member of the Study Office and head of the Civil Procedure Law and ADR sectors at the National Bar Council in Rome. She has been licensed to practice law since 2006 and has served as a theoretical trainer for professional mediators since 2010.

She has been a member of the Technical-Scientific Committee for Monitoring the Efficiency of Civil Justice at the Ministry of Justice since September 2022. She is also the Scientific Director for the University of the Giustizia Smart Project (since 2021/2022) and coordinates the agreement with the National Bar Council in the areas of Civil Procedure Law, ADR, and Legal Profession Regulation. She is a member of the Scientific Committee of the journal Il diritto processuale civile italiano e comparato and on the editorial board of Rivista giuridica sarda. Furthermore, she has been the Scientific Secretary of the journal Judicium since 2002 and is a member of the Italian Association of Civil Procedure Law Scholars.
