Abstract

The paper focuses on the relationship between tourist development and water availability in the town of Alghero (Sardinia). Seasonality is considered to be a key factor in water shortage. The need for a sustainable water management is pointed out and an experimental policy based on higher water prices versus better quality service is presented.
