Abstract
This paper presents the partial results of a study conducted on the pre-industrial road network of the mountainous Iglesiente region, highlighting evidence of several routes penetrating the district, which developed alongside the evolution of settlements in the area, from Roman times to the contemporary period. Among these routes, particular interest is drawn to the one leading from the city of Iglesias to the rural church dedicated to Saint Nicholas at Enesta, a village abandoned in modern times (but originally established on a site dating back to the Roman Imperial period). This route was notable for a processional path dedicated to the saint, which remained active for about two centuries.| File | Size | Format | |
