Abstract
The paper outlines the creation and development of the Research on the Inquiry of the Congregation of the Index (RICI), which focuses on the extraordinary amount of information collected on the books of Italian religious orders following the promulgation of the Clementine Index in 1596. It highlights the importance and impact of the database Le biblioteche degli Ordini regolari in Italia alla fine del secolo XVI, in which RICI has entered and indexed the lists of titles provided to the Congregation of the Index. The database, which is still being completed, has acquired a prominent place in the panorama of bibliographic tools for and represents an indispensable reference point for studies on the books and libraries of religious Orders in the early modern period.| File | Size | Format | |
