Abstract
Colonialism was intertwined with the history of Italy from the nineteenth century to the Second World War, and also cast its shadow in the Republican period, up to the present day. Starting from the most recent historiographical debate, the volume reconstructs for the first time systematically and synthetically the history of Italian expansionism in Africa in the liberal age and during the twenty years of fascism. It also retraces the events of its legacies and implications in Italy in the second half of the twentieth century and the 21st century. The book addresses not only the political projects, diplomatic relations, military operations, the violence of the occupation, the racist laws told, but also the movements of people to and from Africa and how schools, books, films, science, and monuments have made the expansion possible, helping to build imaginaries that still influence the lives of millions of women and men today.| File | Size | Format | |
