Abstract
This research explores the Church and Festival of San Sisinnio in Villacidro, southern Sardinia, Italy. The goal is to create a comprehensive narrative by combining traditional drawing methods with digital technologies, providing a detailed view of this heritage site that goes beyond architectural analysis and which operates in the frontier between the quantifiable architecture and the immeasurable environment. The Church of San Sisinnio, with medieval origins and unique seventeenth-century architectural elements, serves as the subject of study. Set within a landscape rich in cork oak woods and ancient olive trees, the church also plays a central role in the annual "Sa Festa Manna" (the grand festival), deeply rooted in Villacidro's identity. To comprehend the festival's significance, its connection with the landscape, and its historical evolution, a comprehensive approach was taken. This included conducting interviews within the local community to capture personal stories and perspectives from participants, exploring historical photographic archives to trace the festival's development over time, and conducting an architectural survey to acquire technical-graphic drawings. By documenting and visually narrating the Church and Festival of San Sisinnio in Villacidro, a comprehensive resource is provided. This resource not only safeguards the site's physical attributes but also conveys the cultural, historical, and emotional dimensions that underpin its role in local identity, intimately connected with the surrounding landscape and territory. This research aims to contribute to the broader discourse on heritage preservation and presentation, highlighting the role of interdisciplinary collaboration and innovative approaches in comprehending and sharing the multifaceted aspects of material and immaterial cultural heritage.| File | Size | Format | |
