Abstract

The territory of the medieval Villa di Chiesa (mod. Iglesias), also because of the significant role exerted in all times by its deposits of argentiferous lead, enjoys a documentary heritage of great value that, while on the one hand has favored historiographical studies, on the other hand has not given rise to an organic reflection on the strategies to be operated for the definition of an archaeological profile related to the medieval and modern period. Through the review of material of different types (bibliographic, archival, archaeological), the contribution aims to integrate the reading of the local context emerging from the documents, with that recorded through material culture, with special reference to the evidence from the Iberian area.
