Abstract
This article investigates the territorial and landscape construction of Marmilla, a historical region in central-southern Sardinia, in the early modern period. The analysis of the agrarian structures, the political-institutional context, the settlement model and the genealogical and patrimonial network of aristocratic and upper-class families aims to verify how these elements contributed to the survival of the villages, now exposed to the phenomenon of depopulation. The first part of the article focuses on feudal events and their reflection in the agrarian system and landscape. The second part of the paper describes the genealogical and patrimonial network of the main aristocratic lineages and agrarian élites, underlining the competition for economic and political power. The main archival sources used are of economic, cadastral and political-administrative nature. The work is intended as a basis for future local and territorial development projects to be implemented in a transdisciplinary perspective, recovering the virtuous aspects of the network between communities developed during the early modern and modern time.| File | Size | Format | |
