Abstract

This work develops a design methodology for the snubber circuit of a dual-active bridge (DAB) converter affected by the ringing effect. In particular, the ringing is generated by the input and output planar transformer stray capacitances that interact with its leakage inductors. An asymmetric snubber circuit was designed to mitigate the ringing effect produced in the DAB prototype under investigation. The simulation studies show the effectiveness of the snubber circuit in mitigating the current amplitude during the ringing, preserving the DAB components from the current overshoots and extending their reliability.
