Abstract
The essay is part of a broader research initiative aimed at creating a comprehensive knowledge database on 20th-century war heritage, a project that has engaged Italian and Spanish researchers for over two decades. The study focuses on the Mediterranean coasts of Spain and Sardinia, regions interconnected by a shared history of coastal defense. Both areas are home to a rich architectural and landscape heritage, serving as witnesses to the Spanish Civil War and World War II. The research adopts an integrated approach that combines survey and representation techniques, supported by historical and archival investigations, with the goal of creating a stylistic repertoire at both the architectural and landscape scales. This cataloging process enables a comparative analysis of the defensive models present in the two contexts. The communication highlights the outcomes of an initial survey conducted at the Is Mortorius promontory, located in the Quartu Sant’Elena area in Sardinia. The aim is to raise awareness of the value of these material and immaterial testimonies, fostering a deeper understanding of their impact on the landscape and the historical memory of the territory.| File | Size | Format | |
