Abstract

This study contributes to ongoing discussions on how politicians use information by focusing on their actual needs and preferences, rather than suggesting what information they should use and how to use it. The article enhances understanding of the relationship between politicians’ characteristics and roles, on the one hand, and their information preferences, on the other. More broadly, it responds to calls in the literature to explore the drivers that influence information use and search.
