Abstract
The new research carried out at 8arros and Othoca, currently the best-known Punic settlements in the Gulf of Oristano, compels the overcoming of traditional historiographical models based on the sharp distinction between a “Phoenician” and a “Punic” age, in favor of a more realistic periodization comprising an “Early Punic” and a “Middle Punic” phase. 8is proposal is motivated by the strong continuity between the periods before and after the mid-6th century BCE, which is highlighted by the available documentation and denotes an early homologation of the two settlements to the Carthaginian urban and cultural model.| File | Size | Format | |
