Abstract
The editors present the issue starting with its call for papers, first illustrating the theoretical and methodological references outlined in order to provide a comprehensive overview of the publication. Secondly, they proceed with a specific presentation of the articles: beginning from the first essays on the effects of the transition from oral to literate cultures, with special attention to the transmission of performative knowledge; then moving on to various contributions that discuss the impact of recording technologies on the performing arts in the 20th century; concluding with those papers that address the current scenarios opened up by digital media and, finally, arriving at the two last contributions that are characterised by a particular cross-cutting theoretical approach. In conclusion, some potential concerns shared by the different perspectives are identified, showing a specific but convergent attempt at a ‘mediological’ rethinking of Theatre and Performance Studies.| File | Size | Format | |
