Physics-based probabilistic demand model and reliability analysis for reinforced concrete beams under blast loads

In 2019 I had the privilege to visit Prof. Gardoni at University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign. I'm filled with gratitude for an experience that truly broadened my perspective and enriched my view of Academic life. Among the invaluable outcomes of this visit was a research collaboration that culminated in our paper: Title: Physics-based probabilistic demand model and reliability analysis for reinforced concrete beams under blast loads

Preserving Architectural Heritage through Structural Analysis

Thrilled to share our research, "On the Construction Stage Analysis of Historical Masonry Vaults," published in the International Journal of Masonry Research and Innovation! This study dives into the structural complexities of XIX-century masonry vaults in Cagliari, using advanced 3D modeling and finite element analysis to understand how these intricate structures were built—without formwork!

Fire Resistance of Steel Rack Frames: Assessment, Reinforcement, and Collapse Mitigation Strategies

Steel rack frames are widely used for efficient storage in industries, but how well do they withstand fire? While these structures are optimized for weight and cost, their resilience to fire hazards has been less explored. This study, co-authored with Marco Simoncelli and Marco Zucca, dives into a critical yet under-addressed issue: ensuring structural integrity under fire scenarios to prevent collapse and safeguard stored goods, which can be thousands of times more valuable than the racks themselves.

Boosting Bridge Safety with Low-Cost Investigations

Our recent open-access paper, “Assessment of RC Bridges Integrity by Means of Low-Cost Investigations”, tackles a critical issue facing aging infrastructure, especially in countries like Italy, where many structures were built over 50 years ago. With limited budgets and growing maintenance needs, how can we ensure these vital infrastructures stay safe?

On the Construction Stage Analysis of Historical Masonry Vaults

In light of the growing focus on the preservation of historical masonry structures, our latest research, co-authored with Marco Zucca, Emanuela Reccia, and Antonio Cazzani, delves into the structural behaviour of historical masonry sail vaults, particularly those widespread in the #Cagliari area and built during the 19th century.
