Abstract
The purpose of these lines is look back at some of the events that have marked the beginning of project preparation and of the archaeological research, in October2011, lasting in 2014. The area is presently fenced with modern railings which roughly follows the outline of the church’s last construction phase, the NE elevation being the best preserved one. This excavation campaign provided us with relevant information for the drawing of the reconstruction of phases of the church at different depths. Santa Lucia dig has returned some graves almost intact, but with very poor and dissociated grave goods (metallic objects from the wooden coffins and from the corpse clothes or goods), found in Postmedieval burials; fragmentary evidence of floors and plaster dating between 17th-18th centuries AD (glazed tiles from the Iberian Peninsula (azulejos) and the majolica ones, floors of slate and brickwork. During the work in progress dissemination of news and events now makes it possible to have agre at deal of attention by citizens, students and scholars. The choice of a site open, transparent and in open dialogue with all, has multiplied the power and charm of the site. At the end, we propose some notes about the role of the church in the town and about the possibility that under the actual ruins is the oldest building, known from the 11th century.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
