Abstract

If we were to consider the book of the Operette Morali as a repertoire of myths, sometimes blatantly exhibited, sometimes cleverly concealed when not immersed in the text's plots, it would systematically call into question the real consistency of those ‘deceptions of the intellect’ on which the myth of modernity is based, instilling in the reader a healthy and non-conformist attitude to doubt. In this specific case, the essay investigates an intertextual relationship between the Dialogue of Nature and a Soul and the myth of Er treated in Plato's Republic - and consequently a possible juxtaposition between Plato's Ulysses and the character of Anima in Leopard's dialogue.
