Abstract

This article aims to present the status of collocational phraseology in the Dictionnaire françois of César-Pierre Richelet (1680). After a brief introduction to the genesis of the first French monolingual dictionary and to the phraseological terminology present in its structure, we analyze the processing of collocational information, taking into account the way in which it is inserted into the microstructure, the forms in which collocations appear and access to collocational information from one of the two elements that compose it. By applying a formal and semantic analysis to the collocational structures of our sample (the entries of the letter A), we found the presence of the three main types of collocation proposed by Tutin and Grossmann (2002). In addition, given the encyclopedic nature of the dictionary, we have devoted part of the analysis to the specialized collocations with which the Richelet abounds.
