Abstract
The paper focuses on the transmission of models and techniques in the jewellery of Sardinia from Late Antiquity to the present day. As part of the Byzantine Empire, the island deals with a wide range of precious artifacts of different metals, models and techniques, although with no information about artisans and workshops. The latter are more attested from the end of 11 c. onwards, when documentary record attests a richness of goldsmiths and jewelers from both Sardinia and outer Mediterranean provenance. Nowadays, jewellery is considered as most significant in the Island’s ‘traditional’ culture. Despite considered as autochthonous, it is indeed the result of the influence of many models and techniques, handed down over the centuries.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
