Abstract

What is Georg Simmel’s contribution to geography? To try to answer this question without using generic formulas, we must first define our expectations, and therefore what we mean by “contribution to geography”. To do so, we can start from the observation that while within Cultural Studies urban sociologists, architects, anthropologists and philosophers interested in spatial issues study Simmel’s thought, a similar attitude is not found among geographers.
