Abstract

This paper describes the experience of teaching Human Computer Interaction Engineering (HCI-E) concepts in the User Interface Technologies course for the Master’s Degree in Computer Science at the University of Cagliari. The course covers the general traits of technologies for building User Interfaces for different platforms and modalities, including the architecture of classical desktop interface toolkits, the fundamentals of information visualization, gestural interaction, eXtended Reality and seminars about the interplay between Artificial Intelligence and the development of User Interfaces. We motivate the syllabus design for this course and the assessment method, discussing the issues and the success points we registered in four years since we started giving this course.
