Abstract
This volume presents the outcomes of a project by the Ugo and Olga Levi Foundation on composers' libraries – the first of its kind in this field, following similar studies dedicated to writers and visual artists – conceived and coordinated by Paolo Dal Molin. The chapters, authored by Giovanni Salis, Benedetta Zucconi, Mila De Santis, Daniela Tortora, Alessandra Carlotta Pellegrini, Tommaso Vigna, Michele Chiappini, Paolo Dal Molin, Claudia Vincis, Graziella Seminara, and Angela Ida De Benedictis, examine the cases of nine major twentieth-century Italian composers. They outline the current state of preservation and accessibility of these composers' collections, analyzing their formation and development, their use and reading practices, as repositories of the twentieth-century book industry and as reflections of the broader cultural field of their time. Crossing disciplinary boundaries, these contributions offer new insights into individual musicians and the dynamics of their intellectual contexts, while also providing a compendium of studies that may serve as a base for future historical and theoretical frameworks on composers' libraries and archives.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
