Abstract

Eponyms used in radiology of the digestive system are numerous and classically refer to the imaging appearance of the alimentary canal in physiological and pathological conditions from the pharynx to the anorectal canal. Here, we present anatomical eponyms used in radiology of: (a) the pharynx and oesophagus, including diverticula; (b) the stomach with emphasis on the gastroesophageal junction; (c) the intestines with emphasis on anomalies of intestinal rotation, congenital internal herniae and sphincters of the colon; (d) anorectal defects; (e) the liver; and (f) the extrahepatic biliary ducts, the gallbladder and the pancreas. All parts are presented with relevant illustrations. For further data on the various authors quoted, reference is made to Part II (The Anatomical Eponyms from A to Z) and figures in this part.
