References: Zur Oberflächenanatomie der Grosshirnhemisphären. Wien Med Bl 1884; 7:479–482, 542–582, 644–646; Das Stirnhirn. Ein Beitrag zur Anatomie der Oberfläche des Groβhirns. Urban & Schwarzenberg, Vienna, 1890. Sulcus of Eberstaller:Eponym for (a) the diagonal sulcus of the frontal lobe, a variable branch from the lateral sulcus, dividing the opercular part into two triangular parts, and (b) the second intermediate sulcus of the parietal lobe. The triangular part may be indented by an inconstant radiate sulcus of Eberstaller (Fig. E2). Eberstaller’s transverse insular sulcus, separating the short and long gyri of the insula, is a synonym for the central sulcus of the insula of Reil.
