Francesco Cambuli is associate professor of Fluid Machines at the Department of Mechanical, Chemical and Materials Engineering of the University of Cagliari. He obtained his PhD in Mechanical Design in 1998 from the same University. He is the author of over 70 publications on topics related to Fluid Machines and energy conversion, developed with experimental and numerical approaches. The current research activity is mainly aimed at evaluating the performance and optimizing devices for sea wave energy harvesting, in particular the so-called Wells turbine. In the field of turbomachinery, a recent research topic concerns the use of commercial pumps working as turbines in hydroelectric storage systems. He has participated in several research national projects on the topic of the aerodynamic and thermal behavior of gas turbine blades. He is currently involved in the research group of national (NEST) and regional (e.INS) PNRR projects. He is coordinator of a PNRR-PRIN 2022 project entitled "Analysis and optimization of OWC and PTO systems for the efficient conversion of wave energy in the Mediterranean Sea (APEIRON)".
