Education
Classical Maturity with the grade of 60/60 at the Liceo Ginnasio Statale “G. M. Dettori” of Cagliari.
Bachelor's degree in Chemistry with a grade of 110/110 cum laude from the Faculty of Science MM. FF. NN. of the University of Cagliari.
Doctorate in Chemical Sciences Consortium University of Cagliari, Sassari and Pisa.
Work Activity
On 29/07/1997 she takes service at the Department of Inorganic and Metallorganic Chemistry and Technology, as a researcher of General and Inorganic Chemistry at the Faculty of Sciences MM. FF. NN.
She has worked at several national and international research institutions, including the University of Parma, Battelle Memorial Institute in Columbus-Ohio, University of Nottingham (UK) and Jan Dlugosz University in Czestochowa (Poland).
She has been Associate Professor since 2014 and Full Professor at the Department of Chemical and Geological Sciences, University of Cagliari, since 2021. She is responsible for the teaching and research activity (RADR) of the Research Laboratory 1B18 of “Synthesis of Inorganic Complexes and Crystalline Engineering” of the Department of Chemical and Geological Sciences.
From 2007 to the present, she has been a member of the Teachers' Board of the Doctoral Program in Chemical Science and Technology (DOT1304455).
She has also served as President/Component of several Evaluation Committees.
Teaching Activities
From 2000 to the present, teaching activities have been carried out continuously in bachelor's and master's degree courses in the subject area of General and Inorganic Chemistry in courses of study of Chemical, Biological, and Biomedical Sciences. In particular, modules and courses related to General Chemistry, Supramolecular Chemistry, Coordination Chemistry, Safety in Chemical Laboratories, Bioinorganic Chemistry, and Didactics of Chemistry have been taught both in Italy and abroad through Erasmus Teaching Staff Mobility programs. The efforts have involved theoretical and practical teaching (laboratories), with an increasing focus also on innovative chemistry education and specific teaching methodologies for teacher training.
Research Activities
Scientific interests concern the design, synthesis and characterization of N-, S- and Se-donors and the study of their reactivity towards Lewis acids such as transition metal ions and molecular halogens. In particular, it is possible to frame the research carried out in the following main lines of investigation carried out in collaboration with various national and international research groups:
1) Crystal engineering of supramolecular systems.
2) Synthesis and characterization of molecular and supramolecular fluorescence sensors and waveguides.
3) Synthesis and characterization of optically active materials rich in sulfur and selenium and their complexes with transition metals.
4) Synthesis and characterization of N-, P-, S- and Se-donating organic substrates having antimicrobial, antiproliferative and/or antitumor actions and their complexes of gold(I), gold(III) and platinum(II).
5) Study of substrates for restoration and consolidation of carbonate-type stone materials, with special emphasis on marble.
6) Recovery of precious metals from matrices from Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE).
He has co-authored several book chapters and 151 publications in international peer-reviewed journals.

Member of the Editorial Board of Molecules since April 2020, he continuously serves as a reviewer of scientific publications edited by journals and as an evaluator for the ANVUR VQR, of projects submitted to the Ministry of Education, University and Research (MIUR), the Executive Agency for Higher Education, Research, Development and Innovation Funding (Romania) and for projects of individual universities through REPRISE (Register of Expert Peer Reviewers for Italian Scientific Evaluation).
She is a member of the ACS Division of Inorganic Chemistry and the ACS Division of Chemical Education.
She is a member of the REPRISE (Register of Expert Peer Reviewers for Italian Scientific Evaluation) digital registry of scientific experts for the scientific evaluation of Italian research of the Ministry of Education, University and Research.
Management Activity
Always very active as head and/or member of numerous Faculty, Department and University committees, she was Coordinator of the Vertical Course of Studies in Chemistry and Chemical Sciences from June 2015 to June 2021 and since November 2021 she has been an advisor to the University Quality Presidium (PQA).
Since 2016, he has been Vice-Coordinator of con.Chemistry and since 2018 a permanent guest on the Executive of con.Science.
Since December 2021 he has been Secretary of the National Conference of Presidents and Directors of University Facilities of Science and Technology (con.Scienze). Since March 2023, she has been President of the National Conference of Coordinators of Courses of Study in the Chemistry Area (con.Chemistry).
She participated in the working table set up in collaboration with CUN, SCI and con.Chimica related to the revision of the LM54 degree class; participates in the Revision Commission of TOLC-S and TOLC-B chaired by Gabriele Anzellotti and is representative for ConScienze together with Bianca M. Lombardo and Gabriele Anzellotti on the working group with CISIA for the TOLC-S predictivity study chaired by Massimio Attanasio.
