General guidelines for writing theses
The thesis topic must be agreed upon with the professor and may concern an author from Italian literary history, up to the present day – with preference given to topics that have been studied during the course (attendance is recommended) or that fall within the professor's areas of research (see publications).
The bachelor's thesis should be between 40 and 60 standard pages in length, while the master's thesis should be between 120 and 200 pages. The master's thesis must be original.
The thesis—subject to the instructions given by the professor in the initial phase of defining its structure—must demonstrate a good level of autonomy, including in terms of bibliographic research.
At least 60% of the bachelor's thesis (as a guideline and according to the agreed index) must be approved by the professor within one month of the date of submission; in the case of master's theses, the same percentage applies within three months of the official date indicated by the registrar's office.
