Abstract

The present contribution aims at evaluating the effect of teachers’ characteristics and educational practices on high school students’ performance focusing on Mathematics and Reading tests at grade 13. Logistic and multilevel logistic models are employed to investigate the impact of innovative teaching practices on individual academic outcomes, defined as over- or underperformance based on INVALSI competence levels. Sample data of the 2021-2022 student cohort are used together with teacher-level data collected at the classroom level.
