The PhD programme is part of the third cycle of Higher Education and aims to provide training in advanced scientific research methodology. It includes, among other things, study and research periods abroad and participation in research laboratories. Within the framework of European standards (EQF – European Qualifications Framework), the PhD corresponds to Level 8. It is characterized by the production of original knowledge through research, a high degree of scientific autonomy, the ability to lead complex and innovative projects, and a significant contribution to academic or professional advancement.

Admission requires a second-cycle degree (Master’s Degree under Ministerial Decree no. 270/2004, Specialist Degree under Ministerial Decree no. 509/1999, or a degree obtained under the previous academic system) or an equivalent foreign qualification.

The duration of the PhD program is three years.

Each year, the University of Cagliari publishes a call for applications for admission to its PhD programs.

The administrative office in charge is the Doctoral and Master’s Office.
