The Digital Library and System Services Coordination Unit:

• is responsible for the evaluation, negotiation and acquisition of bibliographic and documentary information resources in electronic format, as well as for the management and monitoring of these resources
• provides support, via a helpdesk, for electronic bibliographic information resources, ensuring that access and usage services comply with requirements and managing any operational issues
• monitors data relating to the use and cost of electronic bibliographic information resources, producing data analyses to support decision-making 
• is responsible for the selection, management, maintenance, updating and interoperability of the applications and technological platforms used for the Library System’s services, as well as for promotion, development, training and support
• coordinates services supporting open access to publications and research data provided by the Library System
• offers a service analysing publishers and ensuring quality control for the publication of research results by authors affiliated with the University, as well as analysing publishing contracts regarding the transfer of rights
• provides support to authors affiliated with the University regarding opportunities for open access publication through signed contracts and agreements, and the validation process – via the role of the Approval Manager – of the affiliation of corresponding authors in transformative contracts
• coordinates the validation of research outputs in the IRIS institutional repository
• coordinates the monitoring of Article Processing Charges (APCs) incurred by the University
• organises training for academic and non-academic staff on how to implement Open Science
• in collaboration with the Directors of the Library Districts, analyses the skills and related training needs of library staff required to carry out the tasks of the Library System, in cooperation with the Human Resources Department
• promotes the internationalisation of the Library System through participation in meetings, conferences, working groups and international projects, with the aim of introducing best practices, promoting knowledge sharing and developing library services to support teaching and research at the University
• It coordinates central library services, in particular cooperation within the National Library Service (SBN), through active participation in the SBN Sardinia Regional Library Hub (CAG) in close collaboration with the RAS. It also coordinates membership of other national and international cooperative services.
