Information about Ask @ your library
What is it?
It is an online user support service. It provides information on the University’s library services, answers to simple bibliographic queries, and guidance on document search strategies and sources to consult.
Who can use the service
Any internet user, with priority given to institutional users of the University of Cagliari (lecturers, students, academic staff).
How it works
You must complete the online form, which can be accessed from various sections of the SBA website. You must provide your name, email address, the question you wish to ask, and select the library to which you wish to submit your query from the list.
Tips
- Before submitting your enquiry, please consult the ‘Service Guides’ section on the Library System website.
- Please formulate your enquiry as precisely as possible.
- By filling in the ‘sources consulted’ field, the librarian will be able to suggest alternative search tools and those already used.
- A reply will be sent by email within three working days. For particularly complex enquiries, you may be notified if additional time is required.
Requests to which the service responds:
- general information on the library’s activities and services;
- suggestions on how to search for a document;
- locating books and journals;
- information on electronic resources (databases and electronic journals);
- short bibliographies on specific topics;
- information on texts used in study programmes;
- information on loans (due dates and renewals);
Requests to which the service does not respond
- comprehensive and exhaustive bibliographies;
- in-depth bibliographic searches carried out on the user’s behalf;
- document delivery, for which please refer to the relevant service;
- interlibrary loans (for which please contact your local library);
- medical advice or legal opinions;
- confidential and personal information;
- specific administrative information regarding the University’s organisation and teaching (timetables, programmes, etc.), for which please refer to the University portal
Processing of personal data
Personal information will be used exclusively for the purposes of providing the requested service and will be processed in accordance with current legislation on the protection of personal data. The personal information requested will under no circumstances be published, disclosed or shared with third parties, but will be used solely for the purpose of responding to your enquiry and for statistical purposes. The request is submitted by completing the online form for the relevant library.
