OPAC booking services: Library seat reservations and book loans/returns

How to access and use the online services for reserving library seats and booking appointments for borrowing and returning items via our BiblioSar catalogue

Log in to the BiblioSar library catalogue (OPAC)

To access the catalogue’s online services, you will need to use your SPID / CNS / CIE digital identity credentials.

Click on Accedi, ‘Log in’, (top right of the BiblioSar page) and select the icons for digital identity login. Select the type of access and your Digital Identity Provider.

Only foreign nationals or minors can self-register and access services using Sebina credentials if they do not have a digital identity: https://opac.regione.sardegna.it/SebinaOpac/article/informazioni-per-il-login/infologin

To register for the first time on the BiblioSar portal and, consequently, to access the booking services of the University of Cagliari’s libraries, you simply need to use your SPID / CNS / CIE digital identity credentials during the authentication process.

Click on Accedi, 'Log in' (top right of the BiblioSar page) and go to the icons for digital identity login. Select the login type and your Digital Identity Provider.

On the screen that appears after logging in with SPID / CNS / CIE, you will need to select your profile (‘professional status) – UNIVERSITY STUDENT, UNIVERSITY LECTURER, PhD STUDENT, etc. – and choose a reference library from the list of those at the University. You will automatically be granted access to services across all our facilities and will be able to make bookings immediately.

Once you have logged in, you will see your name in the top right-hand corner and can access the Prenotazioni, 'Bookings', section either by clicking on the drop-down arrow next to your name or by clicking on your name itself.

On the summary page, you can proceed to register a new booking

On the booking screen, select ‘Services’, then the library of interest from the ‘Libraries’ drop-down menu, and the specific room or time slot in which you wish to reserve a seat.

You can also enter a date range for your booking, within the limits of the calendar set by the library.

Where available, you can book a seat for both the morning and afternoon time slots.

In the calendar below, you can select the day and, if applicable, the time slot for your booking.

You will see the current number of seats available and information about the library room.

To confirm your selection, click the INSERISCI, 'BOOK' button.

You may make a single booking for a specific time slot within a service (Library seat, Study room seat, Saturday room seat, etc.) on the days shown in the calendar. You may also make a booking for the current day, provided seats are still available. 

To book a seat for the whole day in libraries with extended opening hours, you must make a booking for all available time slots within the opening hours.

To make a further booking for the same service, you will need to wait until the previous one has expired.

From 18 October 2021, reservations are no longer required for borrowing and returning items

From the entry screen, you can also view the reservations you have entered and print a list of them to present at the library during circulation checks.

The PDF printout can also be saved and displayed directly from your mobile device.

From the same screen, you can delete your reservations by clicking the red button marked with an “X”, and you can view expired reservations by clicking “View all reservations”.

Cancellation via the OPAC’s advanced services or the BiblioSar app is possible up to 1 minute before the start of the booking’s validity (for example, up to 7.59 am for a time slot starting at 8.00 am). If you are unable to do this yourself, please cancel your booking by filling in the form available at https://sites.unica.it/modulisba/cancpre/ as soon as possible, so that the seat can be made available to other users.

Bookings for seats and services at the University Libraries can also be managed via the Bibliosar mobile app.

The login details are the same as those previously provided for OPAC BiblioSar.

Tap the button in the top left-hand corner to open the menu and select the ‘Book times’ option. To add a booking, tap the ‘+’ icon on a red background in the bottom right-hand corner, then select Rooms, the Library and the Service.

Depending on the service selected, a calendar will appear from which you can select the day and time slot for your booking.

When you select the date and time slot, you will be asked to confirm your booking.

Once confirmed, your booking will appear on the summary screen showing your current bookings. You can use this screen to confirm your booking when checking in at the library.

You can book additional services via the red ‘+’ icon in the bottom right-hand corner. Use the Bin icon to cancel the selected booking.

You may make a single booking for each time slot of a specific service (morning library seat, study room seat, etc.) on the days shown in the calendar. You can also make a booking for the current day, provided places are still available.

From the app’s home screen, by swiping left, you can access the barcodes for your virtual library card, to be used for automated lending services or during library entry checks.
